So I had some Sausage Peppers & Onions left over after the Labor Day Pot Luck Lunch. So since I’m not fond of eating the same thing twice within 48 hours I decided to recycle the leftovers in a new way.
I decided to try my hand at some Sausage Peppers & Onion wraps. So of course you need some good pizza dough to make the wrap part. I used Caputo “00” Flour, and some other great ingredients seen below.
- 2 Cups Caputo ’00’ Flour
- 1/2 Tbls Granulated Garlic/Garlic Powder
- 1/2 Tbls Salt
- 1/4 Tbls Powdered Honey
- 1 Cup Hot Water
- 1 Tbls Yeast
- 2Tbls Picaul Olive Oil
Got Diesel Boy fired up for his first high temp pizza oven cook. Threw some Mesquite on there for some wood flavor.
Ok, so they aren’t the prettiest things, but what ever dude back off, it’s a friday, I’ve had a beer or two, I’m cooking with leftovers in a way I’ve never had before.
So here they are, about 3 spears of sausage, 3 slices fresh green peppers, a few onion slices, some Monterey Jack Cheese, and some Queso Fresco.
Diesel Boy was cranking away like a champ, I put the fire basket in the top position, I used a used pizza grill grate with 3 beer can chicken holders holding up the pizza stone. I wanted to get the wraps as close to the lid as I could.
Stone registered in at a nice 534 degrees.
Tossed down some corn meal and on went these ugly ass wraps, again what ever they will taste great.
Diesel Boy Got Nice and Hot!
